Global 3-D Simulations for Magnetospheric Accretion

While the outer region of protoplanetary disks have been studied extensively largely due to observations by ALMA, most planets are discovered within 1 au from the central star. Studying the inner disk structure is crucial for understanding planet formation theory. We have carried out global 3-D MHD simulations to study magnetospheric accretion. Surprising disk structure is revealed by these simulations which could have significant impact on planet formation at the inner disks.
