The Magnetic Field in Colliding Filaments G202.3+2.5

Qilao Gu

We report 850 μm dust polarization observations of a two-filaments colliding region, G202.3+2.5, made with the POL-2 instrument on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT). We detect an ordered magnetic field projected on the plane of the sky (POS), which is roughly perpendicular to the main filament structure. We estimate the strength of the POS magnetic field via the modified David-Chandrasekhar-Fermi (DCF) method, and the estimated value is around 60.7μG. Our calculations suggest that G202.3+2.5 is slightly magnetically supercritical.
